Geografías Mapuches:: Territorios, Política y Desafíos en Tiempos de cambio

Английский. This essay analyzes the trajectory of the Mapuche people from a geo-spatial and historical perspective of their territories, ranging from the Bío Bío River to the Chiloé Island. It shows how their particular processes have generated dynamics that can be differentiated over time, but also find points of convergence and unity in the twentieth century. The essay develops the main elements of the indigenous politics and their social alliances. It states that at current territorial claims are added the ethno-environmental conflicts, the latter resolved in a diverse and unequal ways by the Mapuche society. Also, I think over on whether the demand for autonomy carries on issues like the Mapuche social-economic project, and their position on the neoliberal model and the State. Finally, I wonder if in the way of these transformations the Mapuche people consider to make alliances with parts of the Chilean society, as happened during most of the twentieth century.

Este ensayo analiza la trayectoria del pueblo mapuche desde la perspectiva espacial y geohistórica de sus territorios, comprendidos entre el río Bío Bío y la Isla de Chiloé. Muestra como sus particulares procesos han generado dinámicas que pueden ser diferenciadas en el tiempo, pero que encuentran puntos de convergencia y unidad en el siglo XX. Desarrolla los principales elementos de la política indígena y sus alianzas sociales. Plantea que, actualmente, a las demandas territoriales, se han sumado los conflictos etno-ambientales, estos últimos resueltos de diversos y dispares modos por la sociedad mapuche. Se reflexiona finalmente si la demanda de autonomía lleva aparejados temas como el proyecto económico social mapuche, la posición ante el modelo neoliberal y el Estado. Finalmente, se pregunta si el camino mapuche para estas transformaciones considera las alianzas con segmentos de la sociedad chilena, tal como ocurrió durante la mayor parte del siglo XX.
