The article analyzes the geological features of soils, which requires the determination of their component composition, internal structure, current state, as well as physical and mechanical parameters, including: density, degree of porosity, fracture index, cohesion, shear angle, compressive and shear strength, and other characteristics. The task of geotechnical analysis is to objectively and accurately quantify the stability of soils, as well as to determine the rheological parameters describing the deformation behavior and shear rate of rocks. Obtaining this information is possible through mathematical modeling, using both numerical and analytical methods. It follows that the causes of occurrence and development of ground deformations can be extremely diverse. Since geotechnical calculations do not always provide absolutely reliable results in complex conditions, it is important to critically evaluate the feasibility of their application in order not to discredit this useful toolkit.
