Ginger is one of the regular cash crops cultivated by Filipino farmers. The problem of soaring fertilizer costs hinders ginger farmers from attaining optimum growth and yield. One of the good indicators of ginger yield is the number of tillers. This investigation was done to determine how various fertilizer types affected the quantity of 'Hawaiian' ginger tillers on a small farm in Liliw, Laguna [Philippines], which is located at an elevation of 331 masl. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) and consisted of five fertilizer treatments with four replications. In each replication, two random single rows with 12 sample plants for each row were assigned to the five fertilizer treatments. Application of fertilizer was done one month after planting by top dressing. Data on the number of tillers was gathered at two months (2MAP) and four months (4MAP) after planting. Collected data were analyzed using Krusskall-Wallis Non-Parametric test and Dunn's Test as post hoc analysis using Bonferroni for P adjustment method in R Statistical Software. The results revealed that at 2 MAP and 4 MAP, ginger plants applied with chicken dung with rice hull and complete fertilizer significantly produced more tillers compared to other fertilizer treatments. The average number of tillers at 2MAP was significantly highest in two fertilizer treatments: chicken dung with rice hull, and complete fertilizer (14-14-14) averaging 4.65 and 4.78 respectively. At 4MAP, the average number of tillers significantly increased to 8.07 for gingers applied chicken dung with rice hull and 7.56 for complete fertilizer (14-14-14). Further assessment is needed to determine the potential increase in yield due to the increase in the number of tillers in response to fertilizer application.
