Vegetal Lung Route: Identification, characterization and assessment of agroecological tourism resources | Ruta del pulmón vegetal: Identificación, caracterización y valoración de los recursos turísticos agroecológicos

This study addresses the need for a sustainable tourism model that combines agroecology and cultural heritage in the Ezequiel Zamora Botanical Garden, Alto Barinas Parish, Barinas Municipality, Venezuela. The purpose is to identify, characterize, and value agroecological and heritage tourism resources to design a sustainable route that benefits visitors and the local community. A qualitative participatory approach was used, revealing a territory with agricultural, natural, and cultural potential, although the lack of infrastructure and limited community integration are key challenges to developing a sustainable tourism route. It is concluded that, to diversify the agroecological tourism offering and foster sustainable development, it is essential to empower the community, overcome limitations in participation, and strengthen tourism infrastructure, promoting a holistic approach that integrates socioeconomic benefits and heritage conservation.

El estudio aborda la necesidad de un modelo de turismo sostenible que combine agroecología y patrimonio cultural en el Jardín Botánico Ezequiel Zamora, parroquia Alto Barinas, municipio Barinas, Venezuela. El propósito es identificar, caracterizar y valorar los recursos turísticos agroecológicos y patrimoniales para diseñar una ruta sostenible que beneficie a visitantes y a la comunidad local. Se utilizó un enfoque cualitativo participativo, revelan un territorio con potencial agrícola, natural y cultural, aunque la falta de infraestructura y limitada integración comunitaria son desafíos clave para desarrollar una ruta turística sostenible. Se concluye que, para diversificar la oferta turística agroecológica y fomentar un desarrollo sostenible, es esencial capacitar a la comunidad, superar limitaciones en la participación y fortalecer la infraestructura turística, promoviendo un enfoque holístico que integre los beneficios socioeconómicos y la conservación del patrimonio.
