This dataset contains seven isolates of bacteria (SRI-156, SRI-158, SRI-178, SRI-211, SRI-229, SRI-305 and SRI-360) were earlier reported by us as having potential for biocontrol of charcoal rot and plant growth promotion (PGP) of the plant. In the present study, the seven isolates were characterized for their physiological traits (tolerance to salinity, pH, temperature and resistance to antibiotics and fungicides) and further evaluated in the field for their PGP of rice. In the field studies observed for plant height, tiller number, primary and secondary panicle number, panicle length, test seed weight, stover and grain yields and total dry matter. Root samples were collected from 0 to 30 cm soil profile and analysed for root length density volume and dry weight. Soil samples were collected from 0 to 15 cm soil profile at harvest. These were analysed for soil chemical analysis (% organic carbon, available phosphorous and total nitrogen as per the protocol) and biological analysis (dehydrogenase activity, microbial biomass nitrogen and microbial biomass carbon)

Experiment location on Google Map
