In the Special Nature Reserve “Zasavica”, which is located near Sremska Mi trovica, there are autochthonous breeds of pigs (mangulica), domestic buffalo, domestic sheep and a herd of Gray steppe cattle – Podolian. The characteri stic of all these animals is that they live freely on pastures and they consume ecologically clean food. Gray steppe cattle (podolian) also live this way of life. Maximum freedom of movement causes a good physical condition. In such free, natural conditions, cows mate, calve and raise calves. Based on the available records, for years 2018, 2019 and 2020, the age at first calving, the age of cows by calving, the total number of calving and the sex ratio of calves were obser ved. In this period, there were 45 calving, and as a result 22 male and 23 female offspring were calved. The first calving was in cows, that were three years old and the oldest cow was 12 years old. Average age of calved cows in the first year of observation (2018) was 6.64 years, in the following (2019), average age was 6.53 years and in the last year (2020), average age was 7.25 years. In relation to longevity and longterm fertility, it can be considered that the observed herd of Gray steppe cattle (podolian) in the Special Nature Park “Zasavica” was in middle age.
