Teores de antocianinas, carotenoides e clorofilas em germoplasma de alface roxa e verde a partir de imagens obtidas com aeronave remotamente pilotada | Anthocyanins, carotenoids and chlorophyll contents in germplasm of red and green lettuce from images obtained with unmanned aerial vehicle

Imbalanced diets cause micronutrient deficiency (hidden hunger) are the main worldwide risk factor for death. Therefore, functional foods, nutritionally rich, with beneficial effects on human health and longevity are sought by consumers, scientists, nutritionists and horticulturists. Lettuce is one of those foods, and it can also be biofortified with bioactive compounds such as anthocyanins, carotenoids and chlorophylls. However, the costs and time required to analyze these plant pigments are obstacles to this process. This paper was divided into two articles, the first for the validation of high-throughput phenotyping with unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in red lettuce germplasm, using vegetation indexes in the red, green and near infrared channels. The second, for validating high-throughput phenotyping with UAV in red and green lettuce germplasm, using vegetation indexes in the visible channels. The experiments were carried out in 2019 at the Experimental Vegetable Station of the Federal University of Uberlandia - Monte Carmelo Campus. In both experiments, traditional method and aerial high-throughput phenotyping using UAV Phantom 4 were used to evaluate the levels of anthocyanins, carotenoids and chlorophylls on each treatment. The results showed genetic diversity within the germplasm banks. In addition, high-performance phenotyping was correlated with the traditional methodology in both studies. In the first article, the CIG, CVI and GNDVI indexes showed greater potential for use in order to evaluate the content of leaf pigments in red lettuce, especially anthocyanin. In the second, the GLI index obtained greater correlations and determination coefficients in the prediction of leaf pigments in red and green lettuce. Therefore, UAVs and vegetation indexes can be used to identify levels of anthocyanins, carotenoids and chlorophylls within a germplasm bank or on a large scale in crops.

Dietas desequilibradas, causam a deficiência de micronutrientes (fome oculta) e são o principal fator mundial de risco de mortes. Diante disso, alimentos funcionais, ricos nutricionalmente, com efeitos benéficos à saúde humana e longevidade são buscados por consumidores, cientistas, nutricionistas e horticultores. A alface é um desses alimentos, podendo ainda ser biofortificada com compostos bioativos como antocianinas, carotenoides e clorofilas. No entanto, os custos e tempo necessário para análise desses pigmentos vegetais são obstáculos a este processo. Esta dissertação foi dividida em dois artigos, sendo o primeiro artigo para validação da fenotipagem de alto desempenho com aeronave remotamente pilotada (ARP) em germoplasma de alface roxa, utilizando índices de vegetação nos canais do vermelho, verde e infravermelho próximo. O segundo, para validação da fenotipagem de alto desempenho com ARP em germoplasma de alface roxa e verde, utilizando índices de vegetação nos canais do visível. Os experimentos foram realizados em 2019 na Estação Experimental de Hortaliças da Universidade Federal de Uberlândia - Campus Monte Carmelo. Nos dois experimentos, método tradicional e fenotipagem de alto desempenho aérea usando ARP Phantom 4 foram usados para avaliar níveis de antocianinas, carotenoides e clorofilas de cada tratamento. Os resultados mostraram diversidade genética dentro dos bancos de germoplasma. Além disso, a fenotipagem de alto desempenho foi correlacionada com a metodologia tradicional nos dois estudos. No primeiro artigo, os índices CIG, CVI e GNDVI apresentaram maior potencial para uso visando avaliar o conteúdo de pigmentos foliares em alface roxa, especialmente antocianina. No segundo, o índice GLI obteve maiores correlações e coeficientes de determinação na previsão dos pigmentos foliares em alface roxa e verde. Portanto, ARPs e índices de vegetação podem ser usados para identificar níveis de antocianinas, carotenoides e clorofilas dentro de um banco de germoplasma ou em cultivos de larga escala.
