Jasmine is one of the oldest cultivated flower shrubs. It is estimated that atleast 14500 kg., of cut flowers of different varieties of jasmine are sold everydayin the important cities of Madras, Bangalore, Bombay, Delhi and Calcutta. Alarge quantity of some species is also used for the extraction of essential oils
