Lista de moscas blancas (hemiptera: auchenorrhyncha: aleyrodidae) y sus plantas hospedantes en el Caribe

Английский. Whiteflies are insects of great economic Interest for the damages that they cause as fitophagous or for the ability of some species to transmit diseases caused for geminivirus. Though in the Caribbean islands there is a relative knowledge on Aleyrodidae’s fauna, the studies have increased in the majority of the countries that compose them last years. Up to the present, 74 species representing 10.4 % of the known ones in the world and 34.4 % of the Neotropical region, have been informed; so there stay collected species that have not been identified and others that expect to be discovered, since it is obvious that the wealth Caribbean fauna must be major, for which it would be advisable to continue the studies of the species and host plants in order to reinforce this list.

Las moscas blancas son insectos de gran Interés económico por el daño que ocasionan como fitófagos, o por la habilidad de algunas especies para transmitir enfermedades causadas por geminivirus. Aunque en las islas del Caribe hay un relativo conocimiento sobre la fauna de Aleyrodidae, en los últimos años se han incrementado los estudios en la mayoría de los países que las componen. Hasta el presente se han informado 74 especies, que representan el 10,4% de las conocidas en el mundo, y el 34,4% de la región Neotropical; aún quedan especies colectadas que no se han identificado y otras que esperan ser descubiertas, pues es obvio que la riqueza faunística del Caribe debe ser mayor, por lo cual sería recomendable continuar los estudios de las especies y sus plantas hospedantes a fin de reforzar este listado.
