In the modern era, effectiveness and margin of safety are the two most crucial elements in any application. When it comes to handling such qualities in aviation or highly sophisticated everyday goods, there are still constraints regarding material possibilities. Aluminium 7075 (Al 7075) is typically utilised as a combined substance in these functions; however, it has some negatives related to its tribological characteristics. Up until now, a large number of reinforcements have been selected in to deal with these primary issues. When it comes to tribological qualities, boron carbide (B4C) is superior to many of the other reinforcements that are available. Thus, a thorough investigation into the tribological characteristics of Al 7075 reinforced with different weight percentages of 4, 8 and 12 B4C is conducted in this work. For the purpose of visualising and understanding the wear on these materials, microstructural studies have also been conducted. Finally, Taguchi method was employed as a statistical tool to optimise the control parameters and check the affect the various factors on wear. Experimental results indicated; as content of B4C increases wear resistance has improved, however for higher load and speed wear has increased regardless of reinforcement content. Microstructural study has shown distribution of reinforcement in matrix material, clear visualization of wear surface of specimens to better understand the wear behaviour. Through Taguchi study it got noticed that B4C wt.% and speed were important factor affecting response variable. Higher values of B4C wt.% increased the wear resistance.
