The morphological marker characteristics of the flower and cytological features of microgametogenesis and microsporo-genesis in sterile plants have been studied to identify and select plants bearing Ogura male sterility type. As result of analysis of hybrid plants and inbreeding progenies based on male sterile form of Japanese radish the three groups of progenies were observed with 100 % of sterile plants, all of them are to be the initial breeding lines for production of radish hybrids F1.

For effective selection of varieties and hybrids the attention should be paid to searching and elaborating informative environment grounds using for plant selection.

Phenotypic characteristics defining the CMS in plants of red beet have been studied. The level of sterility varied from 5 to 100 %. Four groups of anthers were sorted out where each group distinguished by certain color, diameter, the number and size of pollen grains inside. The increase of sterility of plants provoked the decrease of pollen diameter, pollen viability in fertile flowers; along this the speed of pollen tube growth is reduced.

Having become one of the oldest Research Institution in Dagestan the State Institution Experimental Breeding Station of Viticulture and Vegetable Crops has already existed 85 years. This date is going to be celebrated this 2011 year.
