Neoheterobothrium hirame (N. hirame) is a large blood-feed gill-worm infecting the highly prized olive flounder. The present study was reported the occurrence and elimination of Neoheterobothrium infection from young cultured oliver founder in the western coast of Korea. Flounder (weight 18-25 g, length 10-15 cm) were obtained from a cultured farm at Taean of Korea at May 2006. A lot of flounder died with serious anemia. We isolated N. hirame from the buccal cavity wall of dead flounder. Adult parasites were 5-15 mm in total length, with 4 pairs of clamps on the pedunculated haptor and isthmus region embedded in host tissue, while immature and sub-adults were identified the attachment to the gill filaments, rakers and arches with the clamps.

A-7-year-old, intact female Korean Jindo dog was referred due to ataxia and pain on palpation of the thorax. Radiograph, echocardiography and computed tomogram revealed a mass on the heart base region and osteolytic change of fifth thoracic (T5) vertebra. At necropsy, a firm, encapsulated and round mass was seen arising from the heart base region surrounding the ascending aorta and pulmonary artery. Histopathologically, nests of cuboidal and polyhedral cells having abundantly granular and eosinophilic cytoplasm with round to oval nucleus were separated by fibrous septa.

An intact male, 3-month-old, Great Pyrenees mountain dog, weighing 7.3 kg with a history of severe hematuria during 2 months was referred. Hematology showed mild leukocytosis. There were no remarkable findings in abdominal radiographs due to ingesta and gas in the gastrointestinal tracts. Ultrasonographs showed bilateral hydronephrosis, bilateral dilated and tortuous ureters, and hyperechoic sludges in the urinary bladder (UB). And a dilated cavity was identified cranial to the UB. Excretory urography and cystography were performed to examine the cause of hydronephrosis and an abnormal cavity cranial to the UB.

The cases of feline panleukopenia virus (FPLV) infection were diagnosed in three imported cats. All cats died within one week after mild emaciation, depression and anorexia. One cat showed yellowish watery diarrhea. At necropsy, all cats had segmental hemorrhage on the serosa and mucosa of the small intestine. Histopathologically, severe diffuse necro-hemorrhagic enteritis was observed in small intestine especially in jejunum and ileum. The crypts of Lieberkuhn were dilated and contained necrotic epithelia. Severely damaged epithelia of crypts were transformed into bizarre shapes.

The approval of use of certain food-grade phosphates as food additives in a wide variety of meat products greatly stimulated research on the applications of phosphates in foods. Although phosphates have never been classified as antimicrobial agents, a number of investigators have reported that phosphates have antimicrobial activities. Phytic acid is a natural plant inositol hexaphosphate constituting 1-5% of most cereals, nuts, legumes, oil seeds, pollen, and spores. In this study, we investigated antibacterial activities of sodium phytate (SPT), sodium pyrophosphate (SPP), sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP) on Salmonella typhimurium in tryptic soy broth and in row meat media including chicken, pork and beef.

A 6-year-old female Maltese dog (body weight 2.0 kg) was referred to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Kangwon National University with primary complaints including exercise intolerance and heart murmur. Based on clinical and diagnostic findings including grade V/VI left basal continuous murmur, bounding femoral pulsation, left ventricular enlargement pattern in electrocardiogram, cardiomegaly with aortic bulging on the thoracic radiography, and shunt flow between aorta and pulmonary artery on the echocardiography, the dog was diagnosed as the left-to-right patent ductus arteriosus.

A 2-year-old spayed female ferret with the clinical signs of diarrhea and anorexia for about 8 days was presented to Hansung animal hospital. The diarrhea was black and paste form. Three palpable abdominal masses were detected in physical examination. By cytologic examination using fine need aspiration, the patient was tentatively diagnosed as lymphoma. Chemotherapy was started with prednisone, vincristine and cyclophosphamide. However, the client requested stopping the therapy at day 18 and the ferret was euthanized.

The ultrastructure of the surface epithelium and tubular glands of the uterus in the immature ostrich is described. In ostriches with inactive ovaries the uterus is lined by a non-ciliated simple columnar epithelium, with basally located heterochromatic nuclei. Scanning electron microscopy revealed that these non-ciliated cells have a dense microvillous cover. A simple columnar to pseudostratified columnar epithelium, comprised of non-ciliated and ciliated cells, lines the uterus in birds with active ovaries. The ciliated cells possess a wide luminal region, which contains a nucleus and various organelles. An accumulation of secretory granules was observed in the apical regions of the non-ciliated cells, as well as in a few ciliated cells. In addition to non-ciliated and ciliated cells, a cell type with rarefied cytoplasm was also identified. These cells appear to correspond to calcium secreting cells identified in other avian species. The results of this study indicate that, although uterine differentiation is present in immature ostriches with active ovaries, the production of secretory product appears to occur mainly in non-ciliated epithelial cells.

Out of 437 sheep inspected (1963 male and 2474 female), 242 (5.45%) sheep among 268 specimens collected from suspected cases of dermatophytosis, which had clinical lesions of dermatophytic infections, that confirmed by positive culture on (SDA+Chloramphenicol+Cycloheximide) supplemented with thiamine and yeast extract and /or by direct microscopic examination using 10% KOH solution. The ringworm infections were varied from summer months (June— October, 2005) to those of winter months (November.2005 to March,2006) which were 59 (3.06%) and 183 (7.29%) respectively . The fungus affect both, the .outer layers of the skin as well as wool. It was spread centrally outward causing more or less circular areas of wool loss leaving scaly to powdery skin which was gray-white in color, measuring 2-10 cm. in diameter. The head, ears, loin, and neck were the most areas had been affected. The only causative fungus isolated was Trichophyton verrucosum

In an experimental study was designed to evaluate the immunopathological effect of sensitized Mycobacterium bovis transfer factor in guinea pigs organs against challenge infection with these microorganisms. The results of this study were showed the followings: 1: Transfer factor recipient group:It was showed an early aggregations of macrophages and lymphocytes (early granuloma) in lungs and liver and reactive lymphoid hyperplasia and macrophages proliferation in the paracortical region of mediastinal lymph node and in periarteriolar sheath areas in the white pulps of the spleen (T cell regions). These early granulomas were persisted during 2" and 4h week postinocultation and slightly decreased and disappeared during the 6h and 8h weeks postinoculation respectively. 2:Group of infection with Mycobacterium bovis:It was showed on extensive tubercuclous granutomatous lesions in the lungs, liver, spleen, kidneys and in the mediastinal and hepatic lymph nodes. The lesions were initiated at 2nd week postinoculation and it gradually developed into extensive tuberculous granuloma with central caseation, during the 4h and 6h weeks postinoculation. These lesions were persisted and continued during 8h week postinoculation. Two animals died at 7h week postinoculation due to generalized tuberculosis. 3:Transfer factor recipient group and challenged with Mycobacterium bovis. It was showed a well developed granulomatous reactions in the lungs, liver, spleen and mediastinal and hepatic lymph nodes. These granulomas consisted of aggregation of epitheliod cells, lymphocytes and few giant cells without caseastion. These granulomas were initated during the 2' week and gradually increased in size in the 4h week and decreased at 6h week and completely disappeared during the 8th week postinoculation. No animals were died in this group. 4: Control group:It was showed neither morphological and nor histological lesions in the body organs.
