Effect of Different Drying Systems on Drying Performance of Maraş Green Pepper (C.annum) Полный текст

Drying is the simultaneous transfer of heat and mass, which is defined as the reduction of moisture in food. The aim of the study the drying performances of refractance window drying (95°C), fluidized bed drying (95°C, 2m3/m air velocity), and convective drying (95°C) were examined in the drying of Maraş green pepper (C.annuum). Drying performance was evaluated for effective diffusion coefficient (Deff), activation energy (Ea), Chroma (C) and total color change (ΔE). Drying curves were obtained by recording sample weights in 10-min periods. For the refractance window drying, fluidized bed drying and convective drying the time for the samples to reach 6-7% humidity level according to the wet base was found to be 70, 80 and 110min, and the effective diffusion coefficient was 6.49x10-10, 5.68x10-10 and 4.87x10-10 m2/s the activation energy was 53.54, 54.65 and 55.93kJ/mol, respectively. When the color properties are examined the Chroma value was determined as 18.23, 8.85 and 4.80 and the total color as 15.42, 26.29 and 30.33, respectively. It was seen that the closest value to the fresh product was in the samples dried with a refractance window drying. In the study, it was concluded that the use of a refractance window drying shortened the drying time by 14-36%, increased the effective diffusion coefficient, provided drying with lower activation energy, and better preserved the color quality in the production of dried Maraş green pepper.

A field experiment was conducted to evaluate the performance of sweet blue Lupin intercropped with maize at different planting time under irrigation in Ethiopia. For the experiment, sweet lupin (cultivar Sanabor) and Maize (cultivar PBH 3253) were used. The experiment was conducted in a randomized complete block design with four replications. The treatments were sweet lupin intercropped with maize simultaneously, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 weeks after maize planting. Sole maize was planted as control. Maize was planted in rows with spacing of 75 cm and 30 cm between rows and between plants, respectively. Lupin was planted between two maize rows (one maize row: two lupin row) 22.5 cm apart from maize row. The distance between lupin plants is 7 cm. In addition, maize rows were top-dressed N-fertilizer at the rate of 100 Kg ha-1 by dividing in to two at planting and at vegetative stage. Intercropping time had a significant effect on yield and yield components of sweet lupin, but not on maize. Lupin intercropped simultaneous with maize gave significantly higher dry matter and seed yield 1.05 and 1.71t/ha, respectively as compared to the four intercropping dates. Maize grain yield and maize stover yield were not affected by sweet lupin intercropping dates. This study showed that sweet lupin intercropped simultaneously with maize could be optimum sowing date for better grain and dry matter yield of sweet lupin without affecting maize grain and stover yield under irrigation condition.

A study was conducted to evaluate the effect of supplementation of alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) hay and urea molasses block on feed intake, digestibility, and body weight change of yearling local sheep fed with grass hay as a basal diet. The rationale for supplementation of alfalfa hay with urea molasses block 1) high-producing animals protein need cannot exclusively met from rumen microbial sources; 2) protein is the most expensive nutrient of ruminant animal feed. Twenty-four yearling intact male local sheep with a mean initial body weight of 23.9±1.9 (Mean ± SD) were used in a completely randomized block design. Treatments were 1% of live weight alfalfa hay (1A), 1.5% of live weight alfalfa hay (1.5A), 2.0% of live weight alfalfa hay (2A), and all three treatments offered with 100g/head/day of Urea-molasses-block (UMB). The control treatment was supplemented with concentrate mix at 2.0% of live weight (C). In addition, all treatments were fed grass hay ad libitum. The study period consisted of 84 days of feeding and 7 days of digestibility tests. Total dry matter intake was 1015.65, 925.41, 956.16, and 1078.13 (SE=± 19.4) for C, 1A, 1.5A, and 2A, respectively and 1A was lower than 2A and similar with 1.5A and C. Apparent crude protein digestibility and Crude protein intake of 2A was statistically similar to C. But, higher than 1A and 1.5A. Average daily gain was 109.33, 54.76, 55.36, and 63.1 (SE=± 6.13) g/day for C, 1A, 1.5A, and 2A, respectively and the values were the highest for C. The study showed that concentrate supplementation at 2% body weight resulted in greater body weight gain, crude protein intake and apparent crude protein digestibility. Additionally, the weight gain achieved at all grade levels of alfalfa plus in combination with the same amount of urea molasses block was commendable. But, considering the accessibility and cost of conventional concentrate mixture, 2% of Live Weight Alfalfa hay with 100g/head/day urea molasses block is recommended as an alternative supplement regime for better sheep performance.

Bu çalışmada tahıl benzeri bir tohum olan chianın glutensiz top kek üretiminde kullanılabilirliği ve keklerin bazı özellikleri üzerine etkileri araştırılmıştır. Bu amaçla chia unu altı farklı oranda (%0, 2, 4, 6, 8 ve 10) pirinç unu ve mısır unu karışımı ile ikame edilerek top kek üretimi yapılmıştır. Formülasyonda chia unu kullanımı, glutensiz top kek örneklerinin karbonhidrat ve enerji hariç diğer tüm kimyasal özelliklerinde artışa neden olmuştur. Chia unu ikame oranının artışına bağlı olarak keklerin özgül hacminde ve pişme kaybında artışlar gözlenirken, kek verim değerlerinde düşüşler gözlenmiştir. Chia unu kullanımı ayrıca keklerin toplam besinsel lif, antioksidan aktivite ve toplam fenolik madde değerlerini de önemli derecede etkilemiştir. Keklerin duyusal değerlendirmesinde genel beğeni açısından en yüksek puanı kontrol örneği alırken, chia unu ikameli kekler kontrolden daha düşük puanlar almıştır. Çalışmadan elde edilen sonuçlar chia ununun özellikle besinsel ve fonksiyonel açıdan glutensiz top kek formülasyonu geliştirilmesinde kullanılabileceğini ve böylece çölyak hastalarının tüketebileceği ürün yelpazesine çeşitlilik kazandırılacağını göstermiştir.

The analysis of the spatial interrelationship between soil properties and slope aspect is vital for understanding the range of influence on soil depth, moisture, and stone content distribution. This study aimed to investigate the spatial interrelationship of topsoil moisture and stone content in different slope aspects and soil depth. The 53.7 km2 watershed was divided into a 500m by 500m grid using ArcGIS and 230 soil samples were collected. In each sampling point, the soil was taken at three soil depth classes (0–25cm, 25–60cm, and 60–100cm) using a cylindrical auger, then soil samples were tested to determine the percentage of topsoil moisture, and stone content. The spatial interrelationship between aspect, soil depth, topsoil moisture, and stone content was analyzed using the R and GS+ software. The study had shown non-significant effects of aspect on topsoil moisture, stone content, and soil depth. However, topsoil moisture tends to be higher on the north-facing slope, while stone content tends to be higher on the southeast-facing slope. The analysis of Local Moran’s I revealed that topsoil moisture, stone content, and soil depth were significantly autocorrelated. The cross-semivariogram analysis of soil depth with topsoil stone content depicted a negative spatial correlation. The experimental cross-semivariogram of soil depth versus topsoil moisture was positively fitted to the exponential function, whereas soil depth with topsoil stone content was best fitted to the Gaussian model. Overall, soil depth is the more influential factor than the slope aspect regarding topsoil moisture depletion and stone content distribution in the study watershed.

Growing environmental and human health awareness due to increased concerns caused by intensive agriculture, has resulted a trend toward organic farming. Organic farming first started in the mid-1980s worldwide, introduced in Türkiye during 1989–1999 with raisin, fig and apricot, and then hazelnut was included in these products. In our country, total of 21.418,57 tons of organic hazelnut production occurs on 12.129,24 ha in 18 provinces. Considering the entire hazelnut production area, organic production is quite low. Organic hazelnut production requires daily monitoring of mechanical control and cultivation measures in the orchard. In addition to this intensive labor, the extraordinary increase in agricultural inputs in the recent period may explain such a low production amount. However, given the recent environmental disasters in the world, human and environmental friendly production systems such as organic agriculture should be encouraged in order to restore the natural balance that has been significantly damaged.

The objective of this study is to diagnose the potato sector in the El Oued region by highlighting the technical and environmental situation of this sector. For this purpose, a field survey was carried out at the level of 75 farms in the El Oued region. The Oued Souf region’s Farm Sustainability Indicator (IDEA) is important. The assessment of agro-ecological, socio-territorial and economic indicators indicates that the agro-ecological indicator is the most represented by (the indicator of fertilizer and agricultural practices) by 98 out of 100. The results of this study show that this crop presents a good adaptation to the conditions of the region. This sector is undergoing significant development and is of great importance because this agricultural activity represents an economic potential at the local, regional and national levels. However, this sector remains fragile in relation to various constraints of a technical nature (unreasonable irrigation and fertilization and high seed prices), economic (price fluctuations and disorganized markets) and environmental (diseases, weeds) which directly influence the functioning of farms and therefore their profitability. This is why it is necessary to face the problems encountered and fight against the factors that can hinder the sustainability of this sector and give a competitive value.

Bu çalışma, farklı düzeylerde organik asit temeline dayalı sodyum format (SF) ilavesinin koçansız şeker mısır silajlarının ham besin madde içerikleri, fermentasyon kalitesi, kuru madde tüketimi, sindirilebilir kuru madde ve nispi yem değeri üzerine etkisini tespit etmek amacıyla yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada, koçansız mısır hasıllarına %0 SF (kontrol grubu); %1 SF ve %2 SF ilave edilerek gruplar oluşturulmuş ve 60 gün fermentasyona bırakılmıştır. Araştırma sonunda, SF katkısının mısır silajlarının kuru madde, ham protein, ham yağ, ADF, NDF, nişasta, ME, asetik asit, propiyonik asit, bütirik asit ve etanol içeriklerini azalttığı, buna karşılık laktik asit, ham kül ve nişasta düzeylerini artırdığı tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca araştırma silajlarının pH değerlerinin, %1 SF ilavesiyle istatistiksel olarak önemli düzeyde azaldığı belirlenirken; kuru madde tüketimi, sindirilebilir kuru madde ve nispi yem değerlerinin ise arttığı tespit edilmiştir. Araştırma sonunda, %1 SF ilavesinin koçansız mısır silajlarının pH’sını düşürücü ve laktik asit artırıcı etkisinin yanı sıra kuru madde tüketimi, sindirilebilir kuru madde ve nispi yem değerleri üzerine pozitif etkisi nedeniyle kullanılabileceği sonucuna varılmıştır.

Türkiye, üzüm üretiminin en çok yapıldığı dünyanın en önemli bağ alanlarına sahip olan ülkelerdendir. Bağcılıkta verimliliği olumsuz etkileyen en önemli sebeplerden birisi bağ hastalıklarıdır. Bu çalışmada, bir yapay zekâ yaklaşımı olan Faster R-CNN derin öğrenme modeli kullanılarak bazı bağ hastalıkları tespit edilmiş ve sınıflandırılmıştır. Bu hastalıklar yaygın olarak görülen ve ekonomik sorun oluşturan külleme, mildiyö, ölü kol hastalığı ile asma yaprak kıvrılma virüs hastalığı (GLRaV) ve asma kısa boğum virüs (GFLV) hastalıklarıdır. Önerilen yöntem 11000 görüntü kullanılarak eğitilmiş ve test edilmiştir. Çalışma sonunda genel doğruluk oranı %92 bulunmuştur. Önerilen yaklaşım, literatürdeki benzer yöntemlerden daha iyi sonuçlar vermiştir. Bu nedenle yöntemin, bazı bağ hastalıklarının tespit edilmesi ve sınıflandırılmasında güvenilir bir şekilde kullanılabileceği sonucuna varılmıştır.

The objective of this research was to examine the impact of fenugreek gum and eggplant peel extract on multiple characteristics of rice pudding, encompassing parameters such as total soluble solids content, pH, color, syneresis index, storage stability, total phenolic content, antioxidant activity, flavonoid, and anthocyanin content, along with a sensory evaluation using a 5-point hedonic scale. Different concentrations of fenugreek gum (0%, 0.2%, 0.4%) and eggplant peel extract (0%, 0.25%, 0.5%) were prepared and incorporated into the rice pudding formulation at varying levels. Higher concentrations of fenugreek gum and eggplant peel extract in the pudding resulted in improved syneresis percentage (68.25±0.42%). This result shows reduced water release and improved storage stability. The addition of fenugreek gum also positively associated with increased storage stability, while eggplant peel extract had no significant effect. Furthermore, while the content of monomeric anthocyanins, total phenolics, total flavonoids, and antioxidant activity in the rice pudding samples increased with higher concentrations of eggplant peel extract, consumer acceptance scores were reported to be very low.
