Research work concerning the presence of mycoplasmas present in the vaginal tract, nasal mucosa and external ear of normal sheep was made in Spain. Identification in some samples reveal the presence of M. agalactiae and M. mycoides subsp. mycoides (large colony type). The findings show these tissue sites represent the natural reservoir or habitat for the etiological agents of the "contagious agalactia" process in sheep, which is common in our country. These results may be a new starting point for increasing the knowledge about the incidence and pathogenicity of the contagious agalactia of sheep in Spain
