Exceptionally low populations of corn borer, corn earworm and other insect pests were noted during the early and regular plantings, but a very high population of corn borer was observed in the late planting. Evidently insecticidal application is not necessary during the early and regular plantings. The corn borer egg masses were very numerous at 48 DAP. Females preferred to lay eggs on the 9-13th leaves. The first, second and third-instar corn borer larvae were prevalent at 42, 54 and 61 DAP. Based on these limited data, spraying against corn borer should be made at 40-45, 50-55 and 60-65 DAP. Predators such as earwigs, coccinellid beetles, lacewings and syrphid flies were noted in the three plantings
