Influence of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers on seed yield and seed quality of yard long bean in Kamphaengsaen soil series [Changwat Nakhon Prathom, Thailand]

The results of the study showed that nitrogen had a large effect on both plant growth and yield of yard long bean seeds. Nitrogen alone and in combination with either P, K or PK had significantly increased growth at the vegetative stage and yield namely: seed weight per plant, pod number per plant and shell dry weight per plant compared to the control. In a thousand-seed-weight, seed germination and seed vigor, no significant differences were observed between each treatment but there was significant difference in N, P and K content in the seed. Nutrient content in seed had no significant effect on seed quality. Paraffin sections of yard long bean seed cost were studied. The fertilizer had no significant effect on the thickness in the palisade layer of seed coat. The palisade layer from any fertilizer treatments was slightly thicker than the control one
