This paper presents the results of morphological, anatomic and chemical studies of the leaf and leaf powder of the quince (Cydonia oblonga Mill.). The samples of investigated leaves were collected in eastern Serbia (Yugoslavia). The following was found: -Quince leaf has a completely normal anatomic structure characteristic of the plants of this family. -Tannins (condensed and catechinic) are present in the leaves in the quantity of 17.31%. -Quince leaf tea has a weak and pleasant smell, nice colour and mild, somewhat tart flavour. -Quince leaves contain much more matters soluble in ether than in ethanol. -Aglycones of flavone heterosides in the leaves of the investigated variety are quercetin and kaempferol. -The Leskovac quince leaf contains cyanidin, i.e. leucocyanidin. -According to the results it is concluded that Leskovac quince leaves could be used as medicinal tannin raw material (astringent drug). This natural raw material can be collected in higher quantities, which is particularly useful.
