An investigation was made with four different seed sizes of maize, namely, small (0.168 g/seed), medium (0.262 g/seed), large (0.373 g/seed) and unassorted (0.268 g/seed) with six depths of planting (2.5,5.0,7.5,10.0,12.5 and 15.0 cm). Seed size had significant relationship with the initial plant growth, number of seed /row/ear, number of seed/ear, 1000-grain weight and the grain yield/ha. The larger the seed size, the higher was the grain yield. Significant response was also found for number of seed/row/ear, number of seed/ear and grain yield/ha to depth of planting. The response was quadratic in nature. The highest grain yield was obtained at 10.0 cm depth of planting.
