The effects of N, P and K, in various levels and combinations, on forage quality (crude protein and inorganic composition) of representative Thessalian pastures, was studied during 1972-76 period. It was found that N increased crude protein yield statistically significant in pastures predominated by grasses and broadleaf plants (Kryovrysi), while N decreased protein yields where legumes were predominant in the ecosystem of the pasture (Pythion). Also, N decreased the dry matter P and Zn content in Kallithea and Pythio pastures. P increased crude protein yield, and dry matter P content of all pastures studied, but decreased Zn content, due to antagonistic effect. The effect of K on crude protein yield and dry matter, P, N, K and Zn content was statistically nonsignificant. The application of N and P, generally, improved significantly the quality of the forage
