Effect of natur selection on bulk-hybrid population of a barley cross
1985
Vaidya, P.K. | Verma, M.M. (Punjab Agricultural Univ., Ludhiana (India). Dept. of Plant Breeding)
Natural selection exerts a dynamic influence on the composition of the population at each generation, resulting in changes in gene frequencies as the hybrid moves towards homozygosity. In bulk population breeding, the extent of influence that natural selection exerts on self-pollinating hybrid populations, depends on the sampling procedure, the nature of competition, the inheritance of character and the number of generations in which the population is handled
