Gill, K.S. | Sandha, G.S. | Sekhon, K.S.
Breeding suitable triticale for irrigated and water stress conditions has been in progress since 1968 in the Punjab State. A number of strains has been developed and tested extensively. Some have performed exceptionally well over years and locations. Four strains: TL 238, TL 257, TL 319 and TL 419 are very promising. These strains have also been found to be highly resistant to many diseases, particularly yellow rust, Karnal bunt, powdery mildew and loose smut. The assessment of triticale for food for humans has also been in progress at Ludhiana
