Rabies in the world and Poland in 1981-1983

In the period 1981-1983, 132,000 cases of rabies were registered in the world. The highest number of the cases was noted in Europe (49.7%) and then in North, Central and South America (43.2%). 1911 cases of the disease were diagnosed in Poland: 61.3% in foxes, 10.3% in farm animals, 8.3% in cats and 5.9% in dogs. There were no cases of rabies in the man. The highest incidence rate of rabies was observed in north and west parts of Poland
