Nitrate and ammonium forms of nitrogen and N - Serve addition were applied by rates: 0, 50, 100, 200 and 400 mg/l of soil. Maximum spinach yield was obtained on plots receiving 200mg N/l in the form of KNO3 and 400 mg N in the form of NH4/2/SO4. Plants supplied with ammonium sulphate took up higher amount of nitrogen from the soil and contained more protein and twice as much as nitrates in comparison to the potassium nitrate. The addition of 5 or 10 ppm N - Serve did not influnce the yield but restricted the nitrogen uptake, nitrates content and had the positive effect on protein synthesis
