The experiment was carried out in a growth chamber using the method of sand culture on loess soil and perlite. The doses of sediments were 1.6 and 10% in the soil and 1 and 5% in the perlite. A favourable effect of sediments at the concentration of 1% on the growth of oats and rye fresh weight was found during 30 days after emergence. Doses of sediments higher than 1% evidently inhibited the growth of plants. Chemical analysis of the soil after the harvest showed an increase in the content of total nitrogen, assimilable phosphorus and in soil acidity
