A new method was proposed to determine organic carbon content in soils. The method, which is a modification of Tinsley's, was found to be suitable for routine serial analyses since, unlike some other methods, it does not require evaporation of soil extracts. The exactitude of the method is not inferior to that of Tiurin's method, the latter being more time-consuming
