An alluvial soil and two sandy soils were treated with several herbicides. The growth of soil microflora was most restricted in the sandy soils while the microorganisms in the alluvial soil were least affected by the herbicides used. Nitrifying bacteria were those most sensitive to herbicides. Aretit and Gramoxone had the strongest effect on soil microorganisms
