The quality of ever-green bulk forage used as feed for moufflons in the submediterranean regions in Yugoslavia

All investigated samples of fodder contain the unexpectedly high values of raw cellulose and of course, the basic twigs. The values of authentic dry substance in all kinds of browse plants are significantly high. The richest by raw proteins are browses of deciduous trees European ash and oak, while in the leaf of evergreen oak (at least in the winter period) is unexpectedly small amount of protein (Quercus ilex). It is neccessary to emphasize the presence of high content of fats in the leaves of bay leaf, olive and especially bearberry, The content of Ca is approximately not equalized and high, except on European holly and olive there are no significant differences in the content of this element in the leaves, in relation to Ca value of the basic twig of the same plant category. In the values of phosphorus which are basically small, there are no significant differences between their content in leaves, i.e. basic twig of the same plant category. The microelement values are variable, in dependance to the type of analysed substrate. In evergreen vegetation the value of carotine is unexpectedly small, which is probably the result of vegetation resting in winter period, when the samples were collected. The analysed fodder also satisfies certain needs of moufflon game by nutritive indicators and in conditions of optimal dry substance consumption. But in the phase of high gravidity it is neccessary to intervene by mineral cocktail.
