In the first chapter of this publication is described the present (zero) state of vegetation-soil-stage of growth-structural relations-productivity and quality of the natural forest reservation "KIK-Visibaba " that encircles 242,9 ha and is situated in the south part of National park "Plitvicka jezera" (SFRY). The lowest height of reservation is 650 m above sea level and the highest is 1084 m above sea level. The inclination is 5'- 22'. The geological bases are chrystal massive dolomites. The climate is moderately warm. In phytogeographic sence the reservate is situated in the climate community of beech-tree and pine. Small by its area, the stand on the highest altitude can be classified as premountainous beech forest. The numerous unzoned unites are developed on the dolomite bases : beech forests with bear's-foot (Helleboro-Fagetum Pelcev 76) and beech and pine forests on dolomite (Abieti-Fagetum dolomiticum prov.), premountainous beech forest (Fagetum illyricum subalpinum Horvat). The most represented type of soil is rendzine on dolomite and after that brown forest soil on dolomite (kalkocambisol) and luvisol. 3 echological-economical types are included by reservations in economical unit : I-C-61 (selected mixtured seed plant (PMS) in the phase of slim trunks, PMS in the phase of medium thick trunks. Uniformed mixed seed plant (UMS) in the phase of medium thick trunks, PMS in the phase of thick trunks), the type I-D-12 (Uniformed pure seed plant (UPS) in the phase of slim trunks, UMS in the phase of medium thick trunks, Nonuniformed mixed seed plant (NUMS) in the phase of prematured trunks) and the type I-D-31 (NUMS) in the phase of slim trunks. In this last type prevailed the beech tree.
