It was investigated the influence of crossbreeding Swedish Landrace sows (as maternal component) and boars of the following breeds: Swedish Landrace (SL), Yorkshire pig (YP), German Landrace (GL), and Holland Landrace (HL). For the investigation were formed 3 groups of half-breeds and one control group of pure Swedish Landrace breed. The crossbreeding had a positive effect on total number of farrowed and of alive born pigs in all combinations, and most of all in SL x YP. The number of ablactated pigs was greater in combinations SL x YP and SL x HL, and smaller in SL x GL. The pig mortality till ablactation was the smallest in combination SL x HL, and the greatest in SL x GL. Greater mortality than in SL was shown besides SL x GL, also in SL x YP combination. Less total pig mortality than in SL was in combination SL x HL, and greater in SL x YP and SL x GL. Similar positive heterosis effect was shown for the total number of farrowed and of alive born pigs, while at other investigated reproductive characteristics the heterosis effect was somewhat positive and somewhat negative
