The paper deals with measures of protection against sorghum in maize crops. Wild sorghum must be controlled in the preceeding crop. Crop rotation is one of the most efficient measures against wild sorghum. High stand crop should be exchanged with row crop (i.e. maize) as frequently as possible. Growing maize as one crop rotation should be avoided. Soil tillage is an important factor of perennial weed control, apart from time and density of sowing. If the field owergrown with sorghum is sowed with wheat and barley, and spring sowing is planned, then chemical measures of weed control should be applied. According to the author, sorghum can be controlled in maize crops by applying appropriate agrotechnical measures, as well as herbicides.
