Screening of different lines of wheat against leaf rust [Bangladesh]

Twenty varieties/lines of wheat including a mixture of 4 susceptible varieties as check, were screened for leaf rust at Joydebpur, Bangladesh during 1983-84. Disease was recorded in terms of response and severity percentage followed by modified Cobb's scale and the varieties were graded based on the value of the coefficient of infection. Results showed that 13 varieties/lines, BAW-18, BAW-39, BAW-43, Balaka, BAW-28, BAW-42, BAW-46, BAW-47, Doel, Kheri, NAIB, Pavon-26 and Tanori were resistant; three varieties/lines, BAW-38, Jupatico and Inia were moderately resistant; and the rest were susceptible
