Effect of nitrogen on yield and yield components of mustard (var. SS-75) under different levels of irrigation [in Bangladesh]

The experiment was conducted at th Agronomy Field Laboratory, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh during the period from November 1983 to February 1984. The treatments included five levels of nitrogen: 0, 30, 60, 90, and 12 kg/ha and four levels of irrigation: 0, 1,2 8 3 at 25, 50 8 60 days after sowing. Application of 120 kg N/ha gave maximum grain yield to the extent of 830 kg/ha. Irrigation had no effect on crop yield which received 31.5 mm rain during growing season in three times. The plant height, number of primary branch per plant, number of pods per plant and weight of 100 grain increased significantly with the increasing rate of nitrogen.
