Bioproductivity and its relationship to yield attributes and seed yield in inbreds, hybrids and populations of sunflower

The relationship between some of the physiological parameters and productivity was assessed in parents, hybrids and populations of sunflower. Significant genotypic difference in leaf area, biological yield and economic yield was observed. Studies made on correlation showed close association of harvest index, leaf area and total dry matter with seed yield. Path analysis study brought out the importance of leaf area in influencing the seed yield as it had high direct as well as indirect effect on productivity. The importance of source size for increasing the productivity is discussed
