Studies on improving germination of seeds of rayan [Manilkara hexandra L.]

In the studies on germination of rayan seeds (Manilkara hexandra L.) it was observed that rayan seeds kept at 35 deg C for 12 hrs germinate to the maximum extent (55%). The seeds soaked in 500 ppm Ethephon solution for 24 hrs have shown better germination (54.66%) as against control (18.17%). A seed treatment of 2000 ppm Cycocel solution for 24 hrs soaking and further incubation at 40 deg C for 24 hrs resulted in the highest seed germination (65.33%)
