For the land use classification and surface hydrology purposes in south of Mosul using a number of penchromatic black and white aerial photographs at scale 1:20, 000 were interpreted according to a certain scheme It was found that we can recognise, dilinate and measure most of classes of the land use with highly significant result and also for all pattern and surface hydrology except class No. 24
