The most economical diet for mass rearing the red flour beetle as host of E. stali, a predator of the Asiatic corn borer, Ostrinia furnacalis (Guenee) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), was determined using flour, corn and rice bran alone or mixtures of flour-yeast (standard diet), corn-yeast, rice bran-yeast and corn-rice bran-yeast. Among the diets used, mixtures of corn-rice bran yeast (10:10:1 by weight) and rice bran-yeast (10:1 by weight) gave the highest F, adult emergence. The rice bran-yeast mixture was seven times cheaper than flour-yeast mixture
