Comparative field evaluation of various rates [of herbicides]

Dymron + 2,4-D, in all rates tested, provided effective control of broadleaves, grasses and sedges and increased the yield of rice, IR 64. The rates of 0.8 to 1.2 kg/ha were, however, noted to provide better control than lower rates of 0.60 to 0.75 kg/ha with yields comparable to those obtained in plots applied with thiobencarb + 2,4-D (1.5 kg/ha) and butachlor 5G (1.5 kg/ha). However, dymron + 2,4-D at the rate of 1.2 kg/ha was noted to be slightly toxic to rice seedlings but the plants were able to recover. In the wet season trial, application of dymron + 2,4-D significantly increased the yield of rice from 5.1 in the untreated control plots to a range of 5.8 to 6.3 t/ha. In the dry season trial conducted in the field with very heavy weed population, the application of dymron + 2,4-D increased the yield of rice from 2.6 t/ha in the untreated control plots to 8.4 t/ha.
