Quality of attributes of cottonseeds stored in different dessicating materials [Philippines]
1984
Villar, M.E.R.
Three dessicating materials: sawdust, charcoal and calcium carbonate (CaCO3), were used to determine the quality of cottonseeds stored for three months. Weight per 100 seeds, moisture content, percentage germination and seed vigor index differed significantly in the various duration of storage. Better quality attributes of cottonseeds were observed a month after storage, and the seeds deteriorated markedly up to the third month of storage. Also, the moisture content, percentage germination, and the seed vigor index were greatly affected by the different dessicating materials used, with charcoal keeping better quality attributes of cottonseeds than sawdust and CaCO3. The interaction effect had significantly influenced the weight per 100 cottonseeds
