Suillia lurida Meig. (Helomyzidae, Dipt.) - a new garlic pest in Poland

In May 1978, for the first time in Poland, Suillia lurida larvae were collected from autumn-planted garlic. In 1985 the occurrence of this pest was sygnalized from 9 provinces. The description of this fly, its biology and harmfulness are given. Good results in the control of S.lurida were obtained with the pesticide Basudin 25 EC at the concentration of 0.15%, by plant irrigating twice at the rate of 0.25 l of solution per 1 m of row
