Effect of different ploughings on the organic matter dynamics in soil

Deeper ploughing resulted in a better distribution of organic matter in the soil profile. It also increased crop yields as compared to the 20-cm deep ploughing. A sandy layer worked up to the surface underwent gradual revitalization and its content of organic carbon increased. Temporary fallowing favoured an increased buildup of organic matter in the soil
