Change of the tree number with age in pine stands as base of evolution of possibilities of choice of plus trees

A table was set on the basis of empirically derived equations that comprised number of trees in definite dbh classes according to the site quality tree stand age in what thinnings should be initiated was determined in dependence on the site quality. Numbers of trees selected as the best ones for the 1-4 quality classes of pine tree stands were determined on the basis of the table. It was stated that criteria of diameter prevalence in best trees as compared to the mean dbh of a tree stand should be differentiated according to both site quality and stand age. Numbers of best trees expected in stands qualified for late thinnings could be reached at the assumption that they would only be thicker than the mean dbh of the stand
