Single cell protein production
1984
Rodgers, B.L.F. (Imperial Chemical Industries (U.K.). PLC Agricultural Division. Planning and Co-ordination Dept.)
The potential of single cell protein (SCP) as a protein source for animal and human consumption is discussed. It can be produced from sugar or carbohydrate containing crops, natural gas, methanol or parafins. A yield of sugarcane of 50 t/ha would yield 1.5 t/ha of 100 W/W crude protein compared with soyabean 0.8 t/ha. Production processes and costs are discussed
