Drying corn at higher temperatures, or using kernels with higher moisture content for silage may lead to considerable changes in chemical composition. Drying at higher temperatures decreases solubility. Kernel overheating lessen protein solubility and adoptability of lysine. Silage of grits from highly moist corn increases percentage of soluble aminonitrogen in kernel as well as the adoptability of carbohydrates. Trial pigs diet confirms high usuable value of corn kernel silaged by self-acidification.
