Chronic alimentary contamination of intensively reared poultry by radioactive caesium-137
1983
Djuric, G. (Faculty of veterinary medicine, Beograd (Yugoslavia). Department of radiology)
The results obtained concern the level of total beta activity, content of 137Cs,K, that is, 40K, and Cs in white and red meat of broilers which were 10 weeks old and egg hatching hens which were 64 weeks old, collected two times a year from 4 chicken farms, in eggs, in complete fodder mixtures prepared for the meals for various categories of poultry and in water. From these values, the CJ and RJ number was defined as well as parameters of radiation safety of the analysed system: the coefficient of collection, transfer, discrimination and protection. The equations were given for every link of the analysed system which determine the linear dependence of beta activity and contents of 40K, 137Cs, K, Cs and Rb content in meat and eggs if their content in food and water is known.
