The influence of feeding ensiled maize grain on the state of health of fattening pigs

Investigation was carried out under production conditions. Control group of fattened pigs was fed with feed mix and experimental group was fed with corn silage and protein concentrate supplement. Silage-protein supplement ratio for fattened pigs weighing up to 60 kg was 80.5 to 19.5% and 86.0% to 14.0% for fattened pigs weighing over 60 kg. Complete feed mix and silage and protein supplement meals contained 14% protein for fattened pigs weighing 60 kg and 12% protein for pigs over 60 kg. The following conclusions were reached: 1.Feeding with tested silage did not have any negative effects on the overall health conditions. 2. Fattened pigs fed with tested silage did not suffer from gastrointestinal diseases.3.Death and forced slaughter were normal phenomena in pig fattening operation. 4.In both control and experimental groups the same pathoanatomic changes were determined, but in the control group these changes were present in higher percentages. 5. In control and experimental fattened pigs pathohistological changes were determined (but not the same for both groups) 6.Examination of accessible muscles did not show any change in colour, nor pale, soft or watery meat.
