Influence of paclobutrazol on carbohydrate, mineral nutrition, and fruit quality of 'Fuji' apple trees
1986
Byun, J.K. | Chang, K.H. (Yongnam Univ., Kyongsan (Korea R.))
Paclobutrazol was treated to the 12-year old 'Fuji'/seedling apple (Malus domestica Borkh.) trees twice in late August and early December 1983, and once in late March 1985 into the soil and on the trunk bark at the concentration of 2-8g ai per tree. Paclobutrazol reduced shoot growth, but increased the size of fruiting buds. Carbohydrates of shoot leaves and woods were increased, but those of fruiting buds were decreased. Ca content of shoot leaves increased, but N, P, K, and Mg were not affected by paclobutrazol. Fruit firmness increased at harvest by paclobutrazol, but the effect disappeared one month after air storage
