Available literature on the factors affecting resistance to root rot and wilt diseases is reviewed. Vascular wilt and root rot diseases are discussed. It is included that the severity of root rot and wilt diseases depends very much on physical and biological factors such as high temperature, shortage or excess of water, plant nutrient, deficiencies, adverse soil conditions, damage by insects and nematodes, other fungal and virus diseases, and competition from weeds
