Sandoval, M.E.C. | Mabesa, L.B.
Azolla pinnata (R. Brown), Bangkok strain No. 5 was analyzed for proximate composition, ascorbic acid, provitamin A and oxalic acid. Results showed that powdered Azolla has relatively high protein content. The oxalic content was found to be present in appreciable amounts and comparable in quantity to other known high sources of oxalates. As a vitamin source, azolla was found to contain an insignificant amount of ascorbic acid but fairly high source of provitamin A.
