Both length and breadth of a fir-cone (Abies alba Mill.) are subject to genic control, the measure of heritability being 0.69 and 0.67 or 69% and 67%. There is a weak correlation between the length and breadth of a fir-cone as well as the number of seeds per cone and its dimensions. However, there is a strong correlation between the fir-cone mass and the combination of length and breadth values and between the seed and fir-cone masses.
