Effect of crop stand on water status in soil and plants and on the occurrence of Fusarium rot of corn stalks

Intensity of the appearance of fusarium rot on the maize stem depended to a greatest extent on the state of the water regime, soil and plants in the specific phenophases of the development of maize. The increased density of maize population in the arid conditions, caused a greater water deficit in the soil and in plants, resulting in more intensive appearance of rot on the maize stem.
